Hawk of a Different Color

This is an extreme crop of a small hawk I photographed at the Baytown Nature Center this past weekend. I'd been seeing a few of these in flight but this is the first one I spotted sitting still. I like the coloration of this bird but didn't have any luck identifying it on the Internet.

Nice shot Larry. I like your composition and the "pose" of the bird. No idea on the type of hawk but Doug will probably let us know!

I'm working on it. I think it's a juvi (juvenile) so the ID is a little harder. As far as the shot, you could still use some fill flash (as in Better Beamer) to pull out some detail and get a little more exposure on it. Good capture.
