Spoonbill 2

Still in the same back lit situation as the shot I posted yesterday, but I like the exposure on this one a little better. As I was shooting this one my buddy from the other pond drove by. Happily he did not decide to honk in retaliation or give me that "special" wave. My wife and I figured he was probably on his way to the front gate to register a formal complaint!

I like this bird's pose and the water ripples with the texture of the bird's feathers and how the light is rimming his head and beak. The color seems a little washed out, maybe from the backlight. Was the pink very intense in person? I photographed a Spoonbill 1 1/2 years ago at the Rookery in the spring and he/she also had yellow on the chest but that may have been the time of year too.

Still too dark IMO. I think you should invest $40 in a Better Beamer if you insist on shooting birds! :-)

You have plety of lens and the composition is good...just needs a little more light.

Cheers!
