Carlsbad Formation

I generally have not had much luck photographing in caves - not that I've had that many opportunities! It seems to me like a very specialized type of photography akin to shooting underwater. Most of the photos I took at Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico in June suffered from exposure issues or were just generally flat or uninteresting. On this particular shot however I did like the way the colors came out and the separation between the subject and the back of the cave.

Nice hunk of mud! :-)

I've had about the same luck with photography in caves as you have. If I ever go into another cave (doubtful) I think I'll leave my camera in the car! :-)

Cheers!

Second the motion.

Every photo that I have ever taken in a cave has been somewhat of a disappointment to me.

I think we should all attend a "Taking Your Best Cave Photos" seminar.

I also took a trip to Carlsbad Caverns a couple of weeks ago and came away with nothing but a centipede picture. I feel like I am in good company.

That last anonymous comment should have had my name on it!
