OSPREY, FISH, AND MOCKINGBIRD

This shot was taken last weekend at the Baytown Nature Center.   I was photographing this Osprey enjoying a fresh catfish when a Mockingbird came along and chased him and his meal off.

Here's another shot of an Osprey at the Baytown Nature Center on Sunday morning.  Calm winds and low water levels in the tidal pools pushed out but this weekends cold front made for an active morning for the birds.

Foggy Morning Osprey

Taken a few days ago at the Baytown Nature Center. The Osprey stayed on this branch for at least 25 minutes eating a fish while I waited to catch a break in the rolling fog.

I took this photo of an Osprey at the Baytown Nature Center on Sunday morning. As we were watching it on the branch of a tree it took off, flew below the tree line, and then returned to another tree with a fish.

Taken this past weekend at the Baytown Nature Center, this Osprey posed for quite a while allowing plenty time for the photo op. My lens combo for this one was my Bigma 50-500 with a 1.4 tele-converter for a 35MM equivalent focal length of 1400MM.

Two shots of my dependable "model" taken at the Baytown Nature Center recently. These shots were taken with my Oly E-3 @ f10, 50-500 Sigma @ 500MM and FL56F flash with a Better Beamer flash extender and finished in CS3.

After missing my most dependable subject for the last few weeks I spotted "my" Osprey back out at the Baytown Nature Center this weekend.

While at the Baytown Nature Center yesterday I spotted this familiar subject in a mood to pose so I took advantage of the situation. I do think this is probably my best shot of the Osprey so far but I also liked the background. It was kind of a washed out time of the morning hence the black & white conversion.

This is the same Osprey in the same tree at the Baytown Nature Center that I posted on my October 9 blog entry. Yesterday morning I was able to get a few paces closer and, I think, improve the shot. This would have been a better shot had I had a "Better Beamer" flash extender in play to add a little fill light to the body.
