BUG PAINTING PARTY

This was my other shot submitted for the BAPC assignment of "AMERICANA".  Interestingly enough this was what I considered to be my "A" shot for the night, but it turned out to be the lowest scoring photo of the night.  Meanwhile "The Pie Lady", see previous post, was the highest scoring.  Judges didn't like the effect, which started as and in-camera Olympus "art filter" and went on from there.  I guess what I liked the most about it is that it's exactly what I intended the shot to be from the time I took it.  An over-the-top representation of an over-the-top event, hence the early selection of the fish eye lens.

Fifth Ward's Pavel Ruck House

Houston Artists Dan Havel and Dean Ruck moved an old home onto an empty lot on Lyons Ave and turned it into a pretty cool work of art. After using recycled materials to make the house look partially turned inside out and adding a stage it is now a publicly accessible park and community meeting place. Hugo Point Foot Bridge

I had several comments about the base image used in my surreal shot "Defiance" yesterday so I though I would post it here. This shot was taken right after a brief shower while the sky was still dramatic.

Hugo Point Bridge

Taken this morning at Hugo Point with my Olympus E-5 in Program Mode with the "Dramatic" Art Filter on. I cropped the angle of view my fisheye lens captured to eliminate some foreground distractions. Recorded ISO was 250, F-stop was F9, and shutter speed was 1/400.

Gaillard-Mitchell Family Cemetery

This shot of the Gaillard-Mitchell Family Cemetery was taken on today's BPC field trip. It's a single shot "pseudo" HDR conversion in Photomatix taken with a fish eye lens on my Olympus E-5. The wall around the cemetery is actually square, the perspective distortion is a result of the fish eye optics.

Trinity Bay Pier

This shot is from the end of a boat ramp on Trinity Bay this morning. When the front blew through it pushed the water out of the bay by quite a bit.
