This shot was taken in a courtyard at a resort in Lajitas Texas in the summer of '08. As usual I don't know the variety but the flowers on this plant hung down from an overhead trellis and were absolutely beautiful.
Trumpet vine or Trumpet creeper (Campsis radicans), also known as "Cow itch vine" is a very aggressive and invasive plant. I agree you could push the saturation a little more.
I like the softness of the background and the color combination a lot. I do wish that you had hit the flowers with just a little flash to bring out the details in the flowers and help them separate better from the background. Nice work
I work in the industrial distribution sector as a salesman for a master distributor of valves and fittings in Houston, TX. I am a member of the Bay Area Photo Club which meets at the Art Alliance Center at Clear Lake in Clear Lake Texas on Tuesday nights. I shoot with an Olympus E-3 and my favorite lens in my Zuiko 12-60.

I like the composition. I think that you could even increase the red in the flowers.

Nice shot Larry!
To me this photo has a lot of depth and subtle richness.
Well done!
