I wouldn't normally post a shot of the south end of a north-bound animal but I like the end result of this shot. Taken at fairly close range with my 50-500 Sigma lens out at 500, I like the soft focus and bokeh.
Every second Saturday Worstell Auctions [http://www.worstellauctionco.com/] holds a public auction of a wide variety of commercial and consumer items. We had never been and decided to check it out this past Saturday. They use this vehicle, there own mobile 'popemobile" like truck, to move around in the auction yard from area to area.
Yepez Vineyard in Baytown [Chambers County] hosted their annual "Grape Stomp" this weekend and my wife and I took advantage of the opportunity to visit. We enjoyed the event and found the vineyard to be a nice relaxing place to visit and we suspect the event will continue to grow.
I took this shot Sunday out at the old boat ramp at Gou Hole Road in Chambers County while trying to chase down a little weather front that blew through. Timing is everything on weather shots and the shot I was hoping for here really passed over this location about five minutes earlier when the skies were a bit more dramatic.
One of the highlights of the halftime show was a performance of the Galena Park Jacketeer's famous high kick routine that included current and alumni Jacketeers. The Galena Park class of '72 led the alumni participants in numbers with five ex Jacketeers performing, including my wife on the left side of the photo.
I stopped by the sight of the Baytown Eagle pair on the way home from work just in time to catch them returning to their nest. They stopped in a pine tree between the fence line and their nest long enough to get a few shots off before the light failed.
I shot this sunset from Evergreen road yesterday evening. I used on camera flash to pop the sunflowers in the foreground and added a little texture to the scene.
Another shot of the Osprey we spotted at the Baytown Nature Center this past weekend. This one was processed using Topaz's new "Black and White Effects".
a My wife spotted this grasshopper in the yard this evening so I took the opportunity to photograph it - duh! The background was a little plain so I added in a blurry moon taken yesterday morning.
This young man was joining in on the current fad of building rock sculptures out of the riprap along the seawall when I snapped this shot on Saturday evening.
I pulled this older shot out of the archives and added a light texture to the background and converted it to B&W with Topaz's new Black & White Effects.
I took a few photos this weekend on a trip to Adkins Architectural Antiques this weekend including this shot of their attic area. I it's a two shot HDR processed in Photomatix and converted to B&W in Topaz's new B&W Effects plug in.
This kitty ended up under our tool shed back in May. After considerable coaxing my wife was able to lure it to her, and it didn't take too long to find it a home.
This image wasn't in too bad of shape but the original [left] did have quite a few small blemishes and some fading. I sharpened the "restored" image on the right a little because I intended to print the image on matte paper which softened the image back towards the original.
This shot is of the San Jacinto River just off old HWY 90 near Crosby Texas. The timing of the train crossing was a stroke of luck. I always say "it's better to be lucky than good!"
I work in the industrial distribution sector as a salesman for a master distributor of valves and fittings in Houston, TX. I am a member of the Bay Area Photo Club which meets at the Art Alliance Center at Clear Lake in Clear Lake Texas on Tuesday nights. I shoot with an Olympus E-3 and my favorite lens in my Zuiko 12-60.
