We drove down to Galveston a week ago hoping to catch some shots on the island as an approaching cold front passed through.  Our timing worked out pretty well as the rain broke just in time for the fast moving front to pass over us and I took this shot from the causeway gazebo.

Old Twin Stack Factory at Galveston

This photo is of an old abandoned factory currently owned by Galveston County located just to the left of I45 as you come on to the island. It's a great old block building with a lot of character - wish it wasn't posted!

This Tuesdays Bay Area Photo Club assignment topic for Honors Night is “Old Galveston” and this is one of the shots I’ve eliminated from consideration. I like the shot but have two others that I think will fair better with the judges.

East Beach Gate

Took a trip down to Galveston today and shot this entry gate to East Beach. It was rainy, breezy, and cold [for Texas anyway] and I was hoping to find some fairly dramatic skies. This gate was recently sandblasted and battered by Hurricane Ike and looked to me more like something from Beirut than it did a ticket booth for Texas tourist.
