Two Shots Same Hawk

This is one half of a pair of hawks that frequent an empty field near the Exxon station at the corner of Rollingbrook and Main in Baytown.

Wow! These are great shots! I like the second one the most as it has the cleaner background to let the hawk really stand out. We have a pair that live somewhere close to my subdivision and I can NEVER get a sharp shot of them. They are the most colorful hawks, with the reddish feathers and I always enjoy watching them....though I did not feel the same way years ago when my son had guinea pigs and we would let them graze in our yard...

Your second photo is probably the best photo of a hawk on the ground that I have seen. The muted background helps set him off and intensifies his stare. Nice job.

Competition! Everyone's shooting birds, the flying kind anyway. I prefer the darker background on the grounded hawk, but the shot of the hawk in the tree is sharper. I like the fact you can see his talons well too. Kind of brings the whole bird into the photo. Nice captures Larry. Those BG's look a little different.
