Golden Basket

After the BPC field trip a couple of weeks ago this plant in my backyard caught my eye. It's there all the time but for some reason on this day the contrast in colors, texture, and lighting caught my eye.

I like the texture and color of this Asparagus Fern as well as the diagonal angle of the plant --- but do you realize it is supposed to be bright green? It was burned by the freezes lately and is now DEAD. But still interesting! I think the image could use a levels or curves adjustment to bring up the light a little on the fern, but I would leave the tree and leaves darker to frame it.

Cindi - Thanks for the comments. I did not realize the plant was dead - I thought it was just an example of Texas "fall colors." Maybe tomorrow I'll post an image of a dead bug!

Wooh boy! Drying the tears from my eyes just now. Took me a little while to stop laughing so hard where I could see the keyboard to type out a reply.

Nope, still can't type. Dang keyboard shorted out from all the tears.

In all seriousness, I can see why Larry chose to photograph the fern and I have been known to shoot seedpods and other "dead" plants myself. And when I read your dead bug comment I thought, yeah, that is the only way to catch some of those critters! I would much rather photograph certain insects dead than have them attack me....So, I am looking forward to a bug shot, dead or alive :).

I was being serious. I almost hurt myself.
