Just found some shots from our summer of '08 trip to Big Bend I hadn't processed and thought this would be a good time to work on them. This one was taken near Lajita's between the State and National parks.
Hello Doug. It is blowing sand in the background. An unfortunate consiquence of working the archives is that motivations may have faded, which is the case on this one.
I really like this one a lot. Focusing on the foliage in the foreground creates a feeling of isolation in this vast desert area. I really like the tinting on this shot as well as it gives the photo a great moody feeling!
I like this image too --- it looks like something out of an old western movie. I expect John Wayne to ride into the frame, or maybe Jesse James. The sepia treatment is perfect and I always like to see something sharp and others blurred and here you can still tell it is desert cliffs and plateaus in the background.
Is that sand blowing in the background or is it fog? I can't really tell in this sepia version.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a really desolate spot to stop. What was your goal of this shot, if I may ask?

ReplyDeleteThe use of the toning here really make this image. It gives the whole image a timeless quality.
ReplyDeleteNice job.
