Half way between Turkey and Quitaque Texas is this old drive-in theatre. Seems like you only see a few of these scattered around small towns anymore. This one was shut down, although Texas Highways magazine said it was showing first run movies a few months ago. Oh well, such is the fickle fate of small town middle of nowhere living memorabilia!
After you mentioned that it was closed, the clouds and weeds help give that feeling of old and abandoned.
ReplyDeleteI have a few shots of this same drive-in. I really liked all the colors that they had painted it. Good subject with a very interesting perspective.
ReplyDeleteNice shot Larry!
ReplyDeleteBrings back memories of better times eh?
Cheers!

This is one of those times that centering the horizon doesn't hurt the photo.
ReplyDeleteYou have an interesting sky with all the color and texture in the clouds, to carry that piece of the photo. You then have that desolate looking foreground leading into the drive-in screen, vacant parking area and concession stand.
Well composed shot! It definitely brings back memories from a different time for many of us.

Thanks all. Larry - It's halfway between two towns that are so small Hee-Haw wouldn't even salute them and you've been there! It really is a small world.
ReplyDeleteGreat landscape shot Larry. Love it!
