Here, I think that the texture, which I take as scratches, get in the way of the photo. If you converted this to black and white or sepia, I think that the texture would work better. I do like the composition of the photo and think it has a great deal of potential.
Another stab at texturing - I pulled this ordinary shot of a shrimper in Kemah from the archives and tried to kick it up a notch using texture.
