MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL
Merry Christmas! From our families to yours.
"And there were shepherds living out in the fields near by, keeping watch over their flocks by night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Luke 2:8-12

Gaillard-Mitchell Family Cemetery
This shot of the Gaillard-Mitchell Family Cemetery was taken on today's BPC field trip. It's a single shot "pseudo" HDR conversion in Photomatix taken with a fish eye lens on my Olympus E-5. The wall around the cemetery is actually square, the perspective distortion is a result of the fish eye optics.

Ren Fest Fire Whip Show_sm
Another shot from the "Fire Whip Show" at the Texas Renaissance Festival a couple of weeks ago. [See video @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UeK-2M2Als ].
This shot is straight out of the camera with my new E-5 Oly using an "art filter" called "Dramatic Tone." I didn't originally think much of this feature, but in RAW + JPEG mode it only applies the filter to the JPEG leaving you RAW unaffected. I still working with the different filters but so far I'm thinking they are sort of fun, but I'll have to wait and see how useful they are.

Medieval Musician
By popular demand - here is a cropped version of yesterday's post. I am always concerned that I might be cropping away to much of the "environment" from an "environmental photo" when I do this. What do you think?

Big Blue Marble
The Bay Area Photo Club of Clear Lake had their Honor's Night program last night and the shooting assignment was "Blue". In spite of the three month window to shoot the assignment I ended up taking this shot the morning of the meeting and printing it an hour before the deadline! One of the judges didn't like the glaring light which was of course my favorite aspect of the shot and something I actually emphasized in post-processing. Oh well, you pay you money and takes your chances!

North Houston Tea Party Patriots
Saturday the North Houston Tea Party Patriots held a Tea [Taxed Enough Already] Party at the Sam Houston Race Park. Great weather played a role as thousands [no attendance numbers yet but I'm thinking easily over 10,000] came early and stayed late to the hear the speakers talk about conservative issues. Not on the list of featured speakers, this Uncle Sam character was on hand in costume to work the crowd.
